Every RAWA piece is made from one of eight non-synthetic fibres. No polyester, no acrylic, no nylon — ever. Here's what each one does and why it made the cut.
Hemp is our workhorse. It's naturally antibacterial, gets softer with every wash, and needs a fraction of the water cotton does to grow. We use it anywhere we need durability without the stiffness.
Linen is the coolest fibre we own, literally. Made from flax, it's highly breathable and moisture-wicking, which makes it the obvious choice for anything built for heat.
Organic Cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides — soft against the skin, easy to wear year-round. It's our everyday base layer fibre, the one that does the most work across the range without asking for attention.
Merino Wool is naturally thermoregulating: warm when it's cold, cool when it's not. Sourced from Australian flocks, it anchors the cool-highland end of the range.
Yak is rare and exceptionally warm for its weight. It brings insulation without bulk, which is why it's reserved for our coldest-weather knitwear — the pieces that have to work hardest.
Eri Silk is a "peace silk," produced without harming the silkworm. Soft, resilient, and quietly luxurious, it's used to elevate our finer knit pieces.
Cashmere is fine, warm, and long-lasting when cared for properly — the most refined fibre in the RAWA range, kept for pieces meant to last seasons, not one summer.
TENCEL™ Lyocell is the newest addition, and the one that gets the most questions. It's not grown like the others — it's regenerated from certified wood pulp through a closed-loop process that recovers over 99% of the solvent used. That makes it non-synthetic (no petrochemicals, ever) without being a raw natural fibre in the traditional sense. We use it where we need a softer drape or stronger moisture control than our woven fibres can give us — proof that "no synthetics" and "no plastic" don't have to mean "no innovation."
