Structured styles
Dad hats, PECUT performance caps, and anything with a stiff brim or shaped crown.
- Spot clean only, or hand wash with a soft brush and cold water
- Never machine wash — agitation collapses the shape and brim
- Reshape while damp, air dry flat or on a hat form — keep away from radiators and direct sun (cork and cotton can warp or fade)
- Wipe sweatbands separately with a damp cloth
Unstructured styles
Boro Bucket, Kids Boro Bucket, PAYA and TAMBAL patchwork reversibles, and soft dome/docker hats.
- Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent, or use a gentle machine cycle inside a mesh laundry bag (not a solid cotton bag — it blocks water flow and traps moisture)
- Reshape by hand while damp, air dry away from direct heat
- Reversible patchwork pieces (TAMBAL, PAYA) — wash inside-out to protect the stitching and patches; hand wash if vintage kimono fabric is involved
Knitwear
RIMBA and LINUS reversible knit buckets.
- Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry — never hang wet knitwear, it stretches out of shape
- Avoid wringing; press water out gently instead
General rule
Cold water only. No bleach. No tumble dry. Natural fibres shrink or degrade with heat.
